OCC has a staff of 10 Professional Engineer–Divers and 11 Engineer-Divers to provide our clients with comprehensive condition evaluations of underwater structures. Our Engineer-Divers are able to evaluate the structural significance of observed damage and can make on-site assessments of structure conditions. Having Engineers in the water, doing the inspection, is the most appropriate method for getting an accurate assessment of the structure’s condition and providing effective maintenance and repair strategies. All Underwater Services are performed in accordance with OSHA and USCG requirements as well as Association of Diving Contractors International (ADC) recommendations. Effectively all of OCC's diving is performed using surface-supplied diving equipment. We have the equipment and vehicles to field 4 complete diving teams. OCC staff are heaviliy involved in the engineer-diver professional community having participated on the committee for the development of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) “Underwater Investigations: Standard Practice Manual”. In addition, they are heavily involved in the current ASCE COPRI committee on developing diving training standards for underwater investigation work. ▪Underwater investigation of waterfront structures including piers, wharves, bulkheads, offshore structures, bridges and pipelines ▪In-house staff of licensed professional engineers with commercial diver certification ▪Structural evaluation of deterioration due to corrosion, chemical attack, and marine borers ▪Rehabilitation design of steel, concrete, and timber structures ▪Installation of data acquisition systems ▪Waterfront construction quality control ▪Cathodic protection surveys ▪Non-destructive and partially destructive material testing
Selected Accomplishments: ▪Under OCC’s on-going waterfront engineering contract with the United States Coast Guard, we have been awarded task orders for multiple inspections to be completed sequentially within a given time period in each of the past 4 years. OCC was one of only 3 firms in the Northeast United States selected for this 5-year on-call contract with the USCG Civil Engineering Unit in Providence, Rhode Island. In 2007, OCC inspected the facilities at the former Military Ocean Terminal in Bayonne (MOTBY), Fort Totten in Queens, and the Ambrose Light Tower approximately 7 miles offshore of the Verrazano Narrows Bridge in 100 feet of water. ▪Over the last four years, OCC has performed the Routine Investigation of 9 New York City Economic Development Corporation facilities. In 2005, OCC performed 6 Routine Inspections, performing five 5 of them within a period of 10 weeks.
