OCC contributes to the enhancement of engineer-diver safety by actively participating on the ASCE COPRI Engineer-Diver Training Standard Committee and having our newest engineer-divers attend surface supplied diving training at outside training agencies.

All OCC dive staff meet EM385 dive training requirements (EM385-1-1 Section 30.A.06) and have current certifications in CPR, first aid, emergency oxygen systems, and the use of Automated External Defibrillators (Section 30.A.09).

Many years of experience

Since 2003, OCC has sponsored training for 23 engineers at schools in Florida and British Columbia with instruction durations ranging from 1 to 6 weeks.  In addition to regular training and certification, OCC mandates that all dive staff have a yearly diving physical (Section 30.A.10).

In 2010, OCC developed an in-house emergency response training program where all divers received underwater training in emergency out-of-air and non-responsive diver scenarios.
