OCC, a COWI USA Company, is a fifty (50) person
consulting engineering firm, founded in 1983,
that specializes in providing Marine and Coastal
Engineering and related professional services
to private and public clients.
OCC specializes in rehabilitation of existing
port facilities such as piers, wharfs, mooring
and breasting structures and design of new replacement
structures. OCC provides professional engineering
services, planning, and permitting for dredging
projects, marine structures, marine asset management,
and coastal projects including wave climate, sediment
transport, erosion control, and flood protection.
OCC provides unique expertise for solving complex
problems in the coastal and offshore environments.
History
Ocean and Coastal Consultants, Inc. (OCC) began
in 1983 as a coastal engineering consulting firm.
Over the past twenty-six years, OCC has expanded
its services, staff, qualifications, and capabilities
to become a recognized industry leader. OCC maintains
offices in Connecticut, Massachusetts, New Jersey
and Aruba.
In 2007, OCC became a member of COWI USA, a subsidiary
of COWI A/S, a leading international consultancy
firm founded in 1930 and based in Denmark. COWI
employs more than 4,800 staff, of which 2,300
are based outside Denmark in subsidiaries, branch
offices or project offices. OCC is proud to be
part of this multidisciplinary firm providing
services of the highest quality in the fields
of engineering, environmental science, and social
economics.
OCC and our West Coast counterpart Ben C. Gerwick
(BCG) are organized under the subsidiary company
COWI USA. OCC and BCG are part of the Marine and
Coastal Engineering group in COWI. This group
has about 270 personnel worldwide. Under the category
"International Design Firms in Marine and
Port Facilities," COWI A/S is ranked Number
1 by Engineering News Record (ENR Sourcebook,
December 15, 2008).
Staff
OCC consists of a diverse staff of trained professionals
with experience in civil, structural, coastal,
ocean, and geotechnical engineering. Many are
registered professional engineers with advanced
degrees and years of practical experience providing
effective and economical solutions to waterfront
engineering problems. In addition to our engineering
knowledge, OCC has 10 Professional Engineers and
13 Engineers trained in surface-supplied diving
operations and underwater investigation techniques.
